Vancouver Island ... Surely the White Stuff Isn't Snow.

We flew over the mountains and looked down on some white stuff.

But, but, it wasn't supposed to be on the ground on the island.  Sadly, it was.

At least it was gloriously green under the white stuff.
After Liz picked us up at the Nanaimo airport, we stopped in Ladysmith where we enjoyed our first rainbow of the day.
This charming red door enticed us into the Wild Poppy Bistro for lunch.
I enjoyed my beet/goat cheese salad and we people watched while we ate.
Then it was time to go "home" to Chemainus.  I covet Elizabeth's suite at the back of the Willow Street Cafe.

I love going through this park to get to the water's edge.

Look carefully in the next photo to see pastel rainbow #2.
Someone decorated a tree in the park.
There were other festive touches in Chemainus.  Here are a few.

Elizabeth had an afternoon show so Bob & I headed to Duncan.  We didn't have any shopping to do, but we spotted a couple of totem poles we missed last time and we immensely enjoyed the work put into shops' window displays.

Elizabeth has a second show tonight and Bob & I are vegging with television and books.

  2. You always seem to be so lucky. The year we went there for Christmas the fog set in the day we landed and lifted the day we left. Arnold never saw a thing! Have fun! We will be hunkering down here!!

    1. There's definitely gray sky, some rain, a bit of snow, but we don't care. Merry Christmas, Christa, and may 2017 be good to you!
